THE CLUGSTON
DETAILS
In 1999, Kil Architecture was part of the project team that saved the Clugston Hotel from demolition and gave it new life through adaptive reuse and rehabilitation. In 2020, our team updated the building for another generation. The scope of work included updating finishes, restoration of the façade and original historic elements, new roof and exterior color scheme, new lighting and mechanical systems, and parking lot resurfacing. Completion of this project was made possible by Indiana State Low‐Income Housing Credits and the Federal Historic Tax Credit Program through the National Park Service.

Focusing on interaction with the golf course and patron amenities, Kil Architecture worked closely with Tonn and Blank Construction, the design-build lead, to deliver a thoughtful design. Updated finishes, additional bar and kitchen spaces, new golf simulators and flex rooms, accessibility upgrades, and a revitalized outdoor terrace comprised most of the work for this project.
